One of the greatest thing I enjoy doing most as a mother is cooking meals for the family. My love for feeding the family healthy meals has made me realize the awesome benefits derived from healthy nutrition in the mental and physical
development of a child.
It saddens my heart when I come across when parents fail in their responsibility of providing nutritious and healthy foods for their wards. Gone are those days where only the father is served meat or fish on regular days and kids get to eat only meat or fish only during festival periods. Parents are gatekeepers and role models to their kids and there is a tendency they imitate most of the things we do as parents. That is why we need to eat well so we can lead the path for our kids to follow as well. Every kids and parents needs to learn the benefits of the "ABCDE"(Act Boldly To Change Diet And Exercise" Benefits of good Nutrition and Exercise To The Child. Healthly food and Exercise are the building blocks for strong growth, healthly development and life-long wellbeing for children. Healthly food and Exercise makes kids performe better academically. It's makes kids feel better about their bodies and abilities. Cope with stress and avoid feelings of low self esteem. Protect kids from childhood illnesses. Help children to build stronger muscles and bones. And prevents malnutrition and lron deficiency. It is therefore, important we feed our kids with the following varieties of food to derive the multiple fuctions embedded in them: Lots of Fruits. Boiled plantain with fried eggs or stew.
Semo and ogbonno soup with lots of fish. Beans with stew. Yam porridge with seafood stew.(crab, snails, fish or crayfish). Fried rice with coleslaw. White rice with efo riro.(vegetables).
