Meet one of the six participants who represented our dear country Nigeria in the just concluded Techwomen at U.S.For six weeks internship program.Techwomen is an initiative of State Bureau of Education& Cultural Affairs. What is TechWomen? TechWomen empowers, connects, and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and the Middle East by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and inspire women and girls in their communities. Through mentorship and exchange, TechWomen strengthens participants’ professional capacity, increases mutual understanding between key networks of professionals, and expands girls’ interest in STEM careers by exposing them to female role models. PROFILE: Binta Moustaph founded a NGO in 2010 aimed at making STEM subjects fun to learn for young Nigerian students.Since 2009,she hosted World Environment Day Events creating awareness about the importance of protecting the environment. Binta Moustaph is the Founder/Program Coordinator "The Beat Education for Development Foundation" She also founded a pet project tagged the D'Best Concept aimed at organizing science oriented competitions,exhibitions and excursions to places of importance to arouse the scientific intelligence in the girl-child throughout Nigeria. Binta Moustapha multi-task in taking the role as a mother and wife seriously and not forgetting her career,a role to play in rejuvenation and awakening the interest of STEM subjects in our girls.
